New Second lounge

I transformed an old kitchen into a cosy second lounge, complete with built-in electric fire, shelving and cosy under stairs reading nook.

Project overview

Problem: The customer had added an extension to his property, relocating their kitchen into the new living space. The customer wanted to change the old kitchen into a relaxing second lounge room, incorporating a fireplace, new storage, and lit shelving units. There was a request to build a cosy reading nook under the stairs and use wall space as additional storage.

Fix: From the plans, I set about repairing the walls, which required restorative plastering. Once restored, I built a feature TV and fireplace unit incorporating built-in shelves on either side of the quartz-tiled centre. I created a frame to support the customer’s dream of having a reading nook built under the stairs transforming the room into a stunning family living space.
